K - 2nd Grade Instructional Level Lacrosse Program

2019 will represent the 10th year of the Mason Lacrosse Club Instructional Program and the feedback continues to be outstanding.  The kids have a blast and the schedule allows plenty of time for them to enjoy other sports and activities.

This will be an eight week spring program offered for both girls & boys in Kindergarten thru 2nd grade.  The program typically begins in early March and runs through mid-May.  The focus of the program is instructional and developmental in nature.  We will introduce each player to the fundamental skills necessary to play lacrosse in a fun and safe environment and we will educate them on the rules of the game.

Teams will be established based on the number of participants.

Girls lacrosse programs for grades K-2 in Southern Ohio are growing every year.  Mason Lacrosse Club has been a leader among the local programs dedicating coaches and field space to help promote the sport.  Members of the Girls High School Team help out our adult coaches bring actual playing experience and fun into the mix while teaching the game of lacrosse.

Southern Ohio does not have any formal leagues for our girls K-2 lacrosse program however the coaching staff does coordinate with other local K-2 programs to hold 4-6 weekends of games.  Games are typically held on Sunday afternoons in April/early May

Games are officiated by team coaches and are not scored (except tournaments) as to allow players to perform the drills and skills learned during practices.  This will allow players to apply what they have learned up to that point while experiencing live game play to prepare them for the following season.

Players will receive a reversible Mason Lacrosse pinnie that must be worn at every practice session and game. Instruction will be provided by both volunteer parent coaches & members of the Mason High School Varsity & JV teams.

We also offer the Girl K-2 program with the opportunity to participate in the Fall/Winter Indoor practice sessions.  Please see the Fall/Winter Indoor page under Girls Info for more information on cost and registration timing.

Players must provide their own equipment to participate in lacrosse.  We strongly urge parents at this age group to:

  1. Purchase used or second hand equipment for first time players at Play It Again Sports or another sports consignment store.

  2. Borrow the equipment from a neighbor/friend.

  3. Utilize our “Equipment 4 Sale” tab on our website to purchase good second hand equipment from other Mason families.

It is not recommended to purchase top of the line equipment for this age level.  Please refer to the Boys or Girls Info tabs on the website and select either the “Girls or Boys Equipment Info” tab from the drop down menus for additional information regarding equipment needs.  The best time to purchase good, used equipment is in the fall and prior to January 1st
